Sunrise

The sun is coming up, which is my cue to get some sleep. I like to think that I'm not affected by jetlag, but I can't really tell since my sleep schedule is so messed up anyways. I just finished editing another batch of pictures, which means I'm a little closer to getting my website done. Soon, friends. SOON!

I just got back from China, and after unpacking and cleaning my room, I am finally ready to tackle this massive collection of pictures I've accumulated over the past 3 months.  Currently, I am drinking some tea I picked up in China while sorting in my head the hundreds of things  I need to get done before my next big trip.  Alfie is also sitting on my lap because she refuses to sleep elsewhere.  Oh the joys of a puppy.  It's amazing how much she's grown in just the one week I was gone.

I'll leave you with a picture of Alf causing some trouble.  She decided to chew up my mom's Mother's Day flowers.

2012

It's everyone's year, and I LOVE it.  So many people I know (and love) are on a mission to make this year theirs.  Our twenties is about figuring life out.  Finding what it is that drives you, what you're passionate about.  Some of my very best friends are on a mission to follow their dreams and reach their biggest goals (thus far).  I'm probably going to write a blog about each one of them (sorry guys) but I admire them so much, and it gives me an excuse to force them into doing fun photoshoots with me ;)

It's funny because these dreams my friends are reaching for cover such a wide spectrum of careers.  It just makes me so proud and happy to see people I've grown up with go down completely different paths.  I guess it kind of goes to show that we're all working towards our dreams, and no one else's.  And its interesting to see which paths cross again!

So sorry in advance dear friends of mine I plan on taking pictures of and blogging about =]

But go ahead and guess who you are:

A lawyer
A cop
A teacher
A doctor
A nurse
A make-up artist
A coach

I credit each one of these people to impacting my life in a huge way.  And each one in a different way.

And for those of us who don't have a specific goal in mind yet, I'm glad to see people taking advantage of their youth, to figure out what it is that they're passionate about.  I think it's such an important thing, passion.  But I'll rant about that more when I blog about my favorite future doctor ;)

San Francisco

Currently, I am sitting in my backyard listening to Tim Laughlin's "Too Close for Comfort," drinking my venti soy iced caramel latte, and watching my puppy chew on everything in sight.  One thing I definitely do not miss about being an accountant is missing out on all the perfect spring days.  Shouldn't life be like this every day?  I want to be able to take my time and enjoy the things I love.  Funny how I don't like being rushed around and going through life so quickly that I miss out on all the scenery, yet I'm so captivated by the busy bustling city life style.

Which brings me to... San Francisco!  A city I've always loved.  I could imagine myself living here for multiple reasons.  But mostly its because I love public transportation.  Sure it's not as convenient as driving, but having to walk around more lets you take in the city, and find the little quirks and things you might otherwise miss in a car.  And let's face it, SF is full of quirky and weird.

So here's a look at the fun things I found walking around SF, including balloons huge enough to take up the entire front section of the F train, a heart someone left in the streets of San Francisco, those silly crooked houses all over town, and a massive pair of legs.

The last picture might be one of my favorites.  I love people watching, which is perhaps why I love to travel, and being able to capture the things I see is what makes it so fun for me.  (Maybe street photography is my calling)  This woman was terrified of the pitbull the woman next to her had brought on the train, she did not move a muscle.  But the look on that pup's face is too friendly!  Ah it was priceless.

Musings

Current musings at 2AM:

  • I just lit a creativity candle I picked up from a VooDoo store in the French Quarter of New Orleans.  New Orleans, by the way, completely blew me away.  Every time I visit somewhere new, I get this incredibly inspiring moment where I'm just blown away at how different life can be elsewhere.  I had multiple moments.

  • Alfie, my new 9 week old puppy, is sleeping quietly next to me.  Which is nice, because that means she's not biting at my toes or chasing my pant legs every time I go anywhere.  I've already got her trained to sit and lie down.  How long do you think it'll take for me to teach her to take out the trash.

  • To try to quickly catch up on my blog, I am going to (attempt to) update daily.  Luckily for me, I've managed to keep myself busy, which means I have tons of pictures to fill this blog with!  But, life's not slowing down anytime soon and I'd ideally like to be able to write as I'm traveling.

  • Places I've been so far in 2012:  Philippines, San Francisco, New York, New Orleans.  I'm leaving for China in less than 2 weeks.  I'm not ready, but what's new.  Every time I think about how much I'm traveling I laugh to myself and think... who do I think I am?

  • I just finished reading The Alchemist.  And I think EVERYONE should read it.

  • I have this new fascination with passionate people, and listening/watching them talk about what it is they're passionate about.  I've realized that lately whenever I meet someone new, after I find out what they do for a living, I always ask if they're happy doing it.

  • I've got my mom talking about the universe.  I apologize to those of you who have been subjected to my endless rants about how amazing the universe is and how crazy it can be when things fall into place so perfectly.

  • I am a lucky lucky girl.  And you better believe I'm taking full advantage of all the opportunities that have come my way.

  • My trip to the Philippines screwed up my sleeping cycle.  Not to mention the rest of the trips I've been taking.  I've been unable to keep a normal cycle of sleep.  I sleep when the sun comes up, but I get the most productive in the middle of the night.   I'm not really complaining though.  I kinda like it.  And now I have a puppy to keep me company in the wee hours of the night.

I'll leave you with a sneak preview of what's to come:
