CoffeeShop Musings
- Aside from used bookstores, I'm obsessed with finding coffee shops. I've always loved watching those yuppies on their laptops who looked like they were doing something important. And now here I am, on my laptop, pretending to look like I'm doing something important. ;)
- I also decided to give up coffee this week. And I made it a grand total of 3 days. I have some time to kill on the west side and the allure of a new undiscovered coffeeshop was too hard to resist.
- I appreciate when coffee shops use silly wifi passwords.
- I leave for Australia in a week. I'm so excited, and as usual, not prepared. I like it that way though, going into a trip with absolutely no expectations makes it so much more fun!
- I might be more excited for this trip because I'll finally get to reunite with Abbigail! My roommate (former, but I like to think we still live together) and travel buddy. We lived together for 7 years, so the fact that she's been MIA studying for the bar is a little strange.
- I love people watching and eaves dropping on strangers' conversations. Is that creepy? Yesterday I overheard some used bookstore employees talking about an author I had never heard of. They quoted one of his books that was too perfect....
“[A]nother important difference between tourist and traveler is that the former accepts his own civilization without question; not so the traveler, who compares it with the others, and rejects those elements he finds not to his liking.”
-Paul Bowles,
The Sheltering Sky
